Alex Bowles and Moira D’Arcy, both Chartered Physiotherapists from St Judes, were invited to speak during Health & Fitness Week at Edlesborough School. This was a week long event with various speakers for Edlesborough School, which has Healthy Schools status. |

Alex spoke on the importance of exercise and Moira spoke about back care. It was a very interactive session which the whole school enjoyed. The feedback from the children and teacher was very encouraging. We left them with our St Judes Top Tips in their book bags and a competition to enter. Prizes were a one day Football Fever Camp Pass or a book token for the winning child and a St Judes massage voucher for mum or dad. The lucky winners were: Ben Sage & Melanie Tate – congratulations! |
- Mrs Allison, PSHCE Co-ordinator at Edlesborough School

| It was sunshine and smiles when St Judes attended St Mary’s Village Carnival on 4th July at Edlesborough. Moira and the team were on hand as usual to give expert advice. A charity raffle was held and with your help we managed to raise £257 for the fete charities including the Neo-natal Unit at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. SUCCESSFUL DAY FOR ST JUDES TEAM AT LISCOMBE PARK OPEN DAY – 28TH FEB 2009
We had an enjoyable time at Liscombe Park’s Open Day on 28th Feb where we carried out free alignment checks to visitors of Energie Liscombe and Leighton Buzzard fitness centres.
Moira D'Arcy, Chartered Physiotherapist and Practice Principal, and Paul Gough, Podiatrist, were kept busy examining client’s walking patterns and joints and answering members' questions.

The aim of the day was to check for alignment problems and to give appropriate advice regarding exercise and the use of corrective insoles.
Feedback on the day was very positive. Energie Liscombe Park is now under new management and we wish the new owner, Scott Wiseman and the team at Energie every success for the future. |

News & Events at St Judes Clinic

Moira met with other members of the Women in Business Network (WIBN) Leighton Buzzard group on Wednesday 12th November at one of the regular monthly meetings.
Apart from the regular benefit of talking to other like minded business ladies in the area, there were presentations from 2 of the businesses within the group and an opportunity to view goods on sale from business members involved in sales of products in the run up to Xmas.
Xmas gift ideas from St Judes took the form of vouchers for some of our services such as Reflexology, Pilates, Massage and Sports Massage. A purchase of a voucher currently results in a free wooden massager from the clinic. Buying a gift and getting a gift seems good to us.
The Leighton Buzzard WIBN group was launched 14 months ago and the St Judes Team has spoken on several occasions at the monthly meetings on topics such as back care, acupuncture and nutrition. We hope to do more into the future. For more information about the WIBN visit: wibn.co.uk.
Professional News
As a clinic committed to continual Professional development, St Judes has been running Acupuncture Peer Review Group Meetings for some years now.
We have quarterly meetings for our staff who practice Acupuncture and we invite Chartered Physiotherapists who practice Acupuncture externally to us to attend also.
Examples of topics on our agendas would be case history reviews, book reviews, course feedback, protocols, discussions and more.
If you are a physio who practices Acupuncture and would like to join us, please contact the Clinic on 01525 377751 and ask to speak to Moira D'Arcy (Practice Principal).
NATIONAL BACK CARE AWARENESS WEEK
4-10 October 2008

If you would be interested in arranging a talk for a local group or organisation please give us a ring. Talks available include:
- Women's Health
- Back Care
- Foot Health and Biomechanics
Moria's talk was excellent and very well received. Moria declined any expenses for her talk but asked if we could make a donation to BackCare which we are happy to do so and enclose our cheque for £30.00"
Moira recently did a talk for the ladies of the Leighton Buzzard Women's Institute. Their £35 donation was forwarded to the BackCare charity to which they replied: "Please accept our warmest thanks for your support and kind wishes. We are extremely grateful for your generosity, which makes it possible for us to continue to provide valuable support for those suffering from the effects of back pain."
Back Care Week - This year runs from 4th -10th October.
This is organised by BackCare - The Charity for Healthier Backs. This year's theme is: Believe you can do it. The team at St Judes will be busy giving lots of talks to local organisations regarding backcare, posture and Pilates. If you are part of an organisation whom you feel would benefit from a talk from the St Judes Team, talks we can offer include: Backs & Backcare, Posture & Pilates, Pelvic Floor, Foot Conditions and Foot Health. The spaces for free talks in and around Back Care Week are now full but please ring us to discuss your needs and book ahead for next year. Although we do not charge for these we do ask for a small donation to BackCare.
At other times our team members are available to do talks at a fee which is variable depending on what is required by the client - please call or e-mail us for further details.
St Judes - Supporting the Community
On behalf of the Friends of Dagnall School I would like to thank you very much for your donation for our Christmas Fayre.
The Fayre was held last Satday and we made around £800 profit which will be put to very good use for the benefit of the children at the school.
