Early Intervention aids recovery from Whiplash.
A whiplash injury to the head and neck is caused by the head being thrust forward and backwards or sideways, often at speed.
This type of injury is predominantly associated with car accidents and leads to damage to the ligaments, muscles, nerves and joints. The effect of this can either be fairly short lived or go on to cause many months or more of pain.
A recent survey has shown that early physiotherapy intervention resulted in reduced pain and sick leave after whiplash.
Physiotherapy uses a variety of techniques to help muscles and joints work efficiently and can help repair damage by speeding up the healing process and reducing pain and stiffness. As well as treating the problem, physios also offer advice on how you can help yourself, such as doing exercises in between treatment sessions, giving postural advice and self-help pain relief.
If you have been unfortunate enough to sustain a whiplash injury then please do not hesitate to contact St Judes Physiotherapy Clinic on 01525 377751 for further advice. We have six musculo skeletal physios who regularly deal with such cases and who would be pleased to speak to you.
