Leighton Buzzard Golf Club

November and December were busy months for the St Judes Team. As part of our partner links work Moira & Nicki gave physiotherapy advice and talked to members of the Leighton Buzzard Golf Club. Tracey Field, our Reflexologist, was also there giving taster sessions of reflexology to the members.

On Ladie' Day Moira offered mini gait analysis for members to check on any knee and foot alignment problems. This service was very well received and she was kept very busy! Our biomechanics team of physiotherapists and podiatrist can identify and treat any knee and feet problems which may be causing other issues such as back and hip pain. A ten minute chat is available free of charge.

The Youngevity Club

Moira presented a lively interactive talk to members of the club. Michael Flynn, speaking for the Club, said: “thank you for a splendid talk which we all thoroughly enjoyed. I am sure that you have made some new friends.” The group made Moira feel very welcome and they have now booked one of our physiotherapists, Amanda, to talk in February on the subject of Acupuncture.

If you are interested in having one of our team talk at your local group please give Moira a call.

Keeping up to date

All our staff attend regular courses and keep up to date with the latest clinical developments. Moira was fortunate enough to observe Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Simon Lambert BSc, FRCS, FRCS Ed Orth, carrying out shoulder surgery at The Spire Hospital, Bushey. The morning was very useful revision and a fascinating insight into this surgery. Moira would like to say a special thank you to Mr Lambert and his very welcoming team.

Meanwhile Paul Gough, our Podiatrist, attended The Podiatry Conference in November and Amanda Spencer continues her MSc in Acupuncture and is now in her second year.

Women In Business Meeting – 11 November 2009

Moira and Tracey attended the Leighton Buzzard WIBN Christmas meeting. Members meet on a monthly basis for networking, a talk about their business and a meal.

At the Christmas meeting there was a wide variety of products on sale from the various companies that the ladies represent.

St Judes were there launching our new Mums & Mums to be treatments (see our pregnancy page). The WIBN ladies were able to sample the 2 luxury creams we are offering free with every purchase of a pregnancy treatment voucher. These two creams; Mum's Miracle Balm and Anti-stretch Antenatal cream usually retail at £8.00 and are made with natural, organic products specifically designed for pre and post natal care so this is a lovely gift to give away or treat yourself!

WIBN 2009

We are also offering a special Christmas Massage voucher. This is usually priced at £35 for a 45 minute massage but if you purchase one before 31 December 2009 this lovely gift will cost just £30.

Massages are carried out by a qualified physiotherapist so you know you are in safe hands.

If you would like further information on the WIBN please see their website at: wibn.co.uk. Our Leighton Buzzard group is very friendly and open and meets once a month for lunch. Why not come along!

Leighton Buzzard Inner Wheel

Leighton Buzzard Inner Wheel – 9 November 2009

Moira D'Arcy, Practice Principal, was invited to speak by the Leighton Buzzard Inner Wheel. A donation for the talk on Women's Health was given to BackCare, the registered charity for back pain.

Val Fookes, Secretary of the club said: "Moira spoke to our ladies club, whose members are in the 50+ age group, on the subject (little known to us) of The Perils of the Pelvic Foor. She went into the subject very thoroughly but made it interesting, and was very informative, giving us all some valuable and easy to remember points to keep in mind. Thanks again Moira for a great evening."

GP Seminar 10 September 2009

Having surveyed local GP Practices earlier in the year, we hosted the second of our GP Seminars with speakers: Moira D’Arcy - Practice Principal, Ian Linane – Podiatrist, and our special guest speaker; Mr Jonathan Beacon, FRCS, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. Mr Beacon spoke on bunions and altered limb biomechanics plus intervention whilst our clinic speakers based their talks upon foot and lower limb dynamics and how physiotherapy and podiatry can be used to benefit problems in these areas.

Results of our post-seminar feedback survey indicated that the evening was very well received and certification for 2 hours’ CPD were awarded to attendees.
