Pilates is a mind body conditioning exercise programme that targets the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine to improve overall core stability and posture. Exercises encourage you to think about how you perform everyday movements. It heightens your body awareness, which in turn improves your overall agility, flexibility and strength. It helps you ensure your body is working at its optimal level all the time. Performed regularly, Pilates positively changes the body.

Pilates – Bridging the Gap

Our physiotherapists work closely with the Pilates Teachers bridging the gap between your physio rehabilitation after injury and the progression to the class situation. Some clients will have a cross-over period when they will be seeing both a Pilates Teacher at one point of the week and the Physiotherapist for more hands on therapy at a different time. Some clients progress smoothly from Physio to Pilates and may only see the Physiotherapist as required.

Others, may choose to see one of our Pilates Teachers for some intense 1:1 or 2:1 sessions. A course of four matwork 1:1 sessions will introduce you to the fundamentals of Pilates, teach you good movement skills and improve your body awareness. The Pilates exercises will be tailored to your individual needs and any contraindications that you may have. Pilates for two people is ideal for couples or friends who would like to start together to share the cost of a private session.

Sign up for a six week course for £60 paid in advance. Clients will require screening prior to attending the course – fee payable: £25.00. This is essential to ensure your programme is suited to you.
